Honors English Essay by SHIM Youth Mentoring Student

Riya and Priyalby Priyal Panta, SHIM Youth Mentoring Student

After school almost every day, I go to SHIM. I love participating in a lot of things we do, such as playing sports, doing arts and crafts, going on field trips, exploring places and a whole lot more.

SHIM is an afterschool program, where mentors who become your friends help you with homework assignments, projects, and more. When we’re not doing homework, we do fun activities such as painting, playing games/sports, hanging out with our friends, going on fun field trips, etc.

On Mondays after homework help, we have medical class. Medical class is where we learn about what’s good for your body, and we have medical students come in from different universities and teach us about good things. In medical class, we also cook food from different cultures around the world, we also go to the science center, and do fun medical stuff.

I’ve been going to SHIM Summer Camp since I was little. You could only go to the mentoring program when you’ve reached 6th grade, so I’ve been going there since I started middle school. I appreciate SHIM so much for them and their work. The mentors have helped me so much throughout my middle school years and I’m truly thankful for them.

I recommended any kids who need help and need a guide through homework and assignments to come to SHIM and have a blast.
