Help SHIM Sack Hunger, Pack Hope

Made in PGH – You think you have a busy March? Check out what South Hills Interfaith Movement (SHIM) is up to!

SHIM has a month-long endeavour “March to Sack Hunger, Pack Hope” underway to help local families put food on the table. In 2019, SHIM’s three food pantries provided more than 500,000 pounds of food to more than 3,500 people, 35% of which were children. There just isn’t enough to serve everyone in need.

To help raise awareness SHIM is thinking outside of the boxed goods and canned goods. Of course you could just do the usual — donate, attend events, and spread the word.

Or you could do something really cool on March 21-22: Participate in the “Sack Hunger Pantry Challenge”.

The Challenge: Can you make a meal for your family using only a few of the most-needed food pantry items?

Your shopping list: dried beans or lentils, rice, canned protein.

Make & Share! Create your meal, then share it with SHIM on social media and include #SackHungerPantryChallenge and #madeinpgh in your post.

We will be participating in the challenge — We can’t wait to share our creations! We look forward to seeing what yinz make too!
