The Almanac – South Hills Interfaith Ministries (SHIM) will hold its 17th annual Angel Emporium at St. Valentine Church’s Newman House, located on Ohio Street in Bethel Park, to provide a holiday shopping experience for community residents in need. Each year, the Angel Emporium benefits nearly 1,000 of SHIM’s pre-registered food pantry beneficiaries with the help of nearly 100 volunteers.
Volunteers are needed to help at this year’s event. Volunteers help children and parents choose the perfect gift for their loved one, wrap presents, greet shoppers and help organize items. Volunteers are also needed to help arrange gifts and set up the store prior to the event; a family volunteer night is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Dec. 1. To participate, call SHIM at 412-854-9120.
Donations will be accepted 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, through Dec. 1, at SHIM, 5301 Park Ave., Bethel Park. This year, SHIM is in need of gifts for adults and teens, including blankets, small appliances and heaters. Angel Emporium is open to SHIM food pantry families 4-7:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, Dec. 2-9. Family nights are Dec. 7-9, and senior day is 1-4 p.m. Dec. 10. All participating food pantry families must be registered with SHIM prior to the event.
