Many of our staff members were involved with SHIM

Many of our staff members were involved with SHIM before becoming employed here. A native of Bethel Park, Olivia remembers volunteering at SHIM as a teen and doing service projects at school. In March, she joined our service coordination team. She enjoys working with immigrants and refugees in the South Hills and loves learning about their various cultures. “I admire the inclusivity SHIM provides. It has been an incredible experience so far!” When she’s not working, Olivia enjoys spending time outside with her two pups, Bella and Willow.

For #TeenTuesday we want to celebrate a few FORMER

For #TeenTuesday we want to celebrate a few FORMER teens who are headed into their first years of college! These grads are attending CCAC , Juniata College , Penn State , Lehigh University , Carlow University , Chatham University , and Duquesne University. One student is headed to the army and another is doing a meat cutter’s apprentice program at Giant Eagle. Youth Mentoring seniors attended college visits, received help with college applications and financial aid, and received advice about majors, housing, and college choices. Some of these students even worked at SHIM’s afterschool program and summer camp over the last year as well! 🥰
