Tribune-Review – South Hills Interfaith Movement, in partnership with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, hosted its third drive-through food distribution event at Bethel Park High School on Saturday.
The distribution, which ran from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and was open to anyone, had enough food to feed 1,000 families.
For the first hour, a steady stream of cars were loaded with boxes of non-perishable food, as well as dairy items and vegetables by volunteers. Vehicles continued to trickle in over the remaining hour.
South Hills Interfaith Movement officials said they’ve seen an increase in the amount of people seeking assistance since the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic, and nearly half of those visiting the food pantry are new clients.
