Kids Who Care for their Community

Cereal donationSHIM is blown away by the generosity of kids in the South Hills. We are grateful for the dedicated young neighbors who care deeply about their community and want to make an impact.

Recently, students from Boyce Middle School in Upper St. Clair collected cereal for SHIM’s food pantries as part of their Random Acts of Kindness week. These generous kids collected over 700 boxes of cereal in support of SHIM’s food pantries. As one of SHIM’s most needed pantry items, cereal donations are helpful in keeping our shelves stocked with food that families need.

After seeing a decline in pantry participation over the summer, SHIM served a record number of families in November of 2021, benefitting 2,900 people! As SHIM works to feed the individuals and families relying on our food pantries to make ends meet, we are thankful for neighbors of all ages who provide in-kind donations like cereal.
