Make a gift. Make a difference.
From operating our food pantries to providing educational support to kids striving to succeed in school, SHIM’s work relies on one thing. You. Your generous gifts power the work that helps our struggling neighbors.
Thanks to you:
- Worried parents put food on the table
- Women in crisis avoid eviction
- Teen refugee students achieve success in school and the workplace
Together, we served more than 4,000 people in 2015. But moving forward, there’s so much more we can do. Please join us to make the South Hills better than ever.
Sack Hunger, Pack Hope
Every dollar makes a difference.
$1,000 helps 10 families put food on the table for six months
$500 gives an emergency grant so a local woman and her family can avoid eviction
$250 enables 60 teens to explore career options and visit college campuses with our Youth Mentoring Program
$100 gives 50 children an immersive learning experience in our Summer Camp
$50 provides the seeds to grow hundreds of pounds of produce in SHIM’s gardens
Other Ways to Give
Make a gift of stock
Giving a gift of appreciated stocks, bonds or mutual funds is another impactful way to support SHIM and may provide a greater tax benefit than giving cash.
Your donation of securities is eligible for a tax deduction and helps you avoid or reduce capital gains taxes and brokerage fees. For more information on potential tax advantages, please consult with your financial advisor. Gifts of securities can easily be made by asking your broker to arrange a transfer to SHIM’s account at LPL Financial. Please provide your broker with this information.
Make an in-kind donation
Nearly 50% of food distributed from our pantries comes from food drives organized by students, community groups, the faith community, and neighbors like you.
We accept donations of non-perishable food and gently used clothing at our Bethel Park location Monday-Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., and on Thursday and Friday by appointment.
Donate a car. Change a life.
If you have a car that’s ready to retire, donate it to help low-income people who need help with transportation. Through a partnership with North Hills Community Outreach’s Community Auto program, 30% of the proceeds from the sale of your vehicle will be donated to help support SHIM’s work. Learn more about Community Auto.
Thanks, neighbors, for helping us make an impact in the South Hills.
